Sort of Newbie

Hi all Been snooping around the website and found the forum. I have a few q's and am hoping for some advice. I did a RAPS course at Netheravon about 10 years ago, then retrained at South cerney a few years later, then retrained in Calgary a few years later, then did a few jumps at Nethers a few months later, got injured and that was that. In total did 18 SL jumps and 2 freefall. Haven't jumped in 6 years and after some tunnel flying have got the bug big time, being older and somewhat wiser The best thing I think for me too do is an AFF course, but the cost is a huge off put. I know I can progress through the RAPS system, and combining this with the experience I'm gaining in the tunnel I think I could get to Cat8 in less than 20 jumps, which makes it alot less expensive than the AFF course.
Do you still have to do 10 consolidation jumps after reaching Cat8 by Raps progression?
Thanks in advance

, I want to get back into the sport proper.
Re: Sort of Newbie
Hi Stu,
No, consolidation jumps only apply to AFF.
I have no doubt you could pass CAT 8 but you would have to start right back at the beginning for RAPS. This means passing all static line and dummy pulls before progressing onto freefall again. Tunnel is a great aid once you are onto freefall and im sure you will pass the on heading and turns part no problem but just remember a lot of the RAPS syllabus can not be practised in the tunnel.

Thanks AK
I have no problem starting from scratch again, like I metioned its just a cash thing, In theory, if I knuckle down, listen, and perform, I could get to Cat8 in less than 20 jumps which would be around half the cost of AFF, without the consols.
I think I need to make a trip to Weston one weekend have a nosey around and a cup of tea. Only live in Northampton, so not a million miles away
Re: Sort of Newbie
yep do that and ill see what i can do ref AFF costs
