AFF - How Long Does It Take

pbyford's picture

Hi - I would appreciate some advice and a steer on AFF. I've been thinking about doing it for a while, but never seem to make time to get started!

It looks like I will be near Weston this comming bank holiday Monday and was thinking about signing up.

My questions are;

[list]
[*]Is there enough time to sign up for AFF next Monday
[*]How much can I get done in a day? Is this enough time to complete Level one
[/list:u]

Many Thanks
Paul ???

This is a quick reply, so you may need more details from Ash, the guy that runs Skydive Weston.

If you are ages 16-18 you will need parent/guardian to allow you to jump

If you are 18-39 you can self certify that you're fit to skydive.

If you are 40-55 you will need a delcaration of fitness signed by your GP (there is an exception to the 55 limit if you have previous parachuting experience)

You will need a ground school... this covers such things as equipment familiarisation, the stable freefall position, canopy control, landings, other emergencies and malfunctions. There are more lessons... and this should take at least 6 hours.

It's not usual to jump on the same day, there's a lot of information to take in, but it's not unheard of.

Then of course, there's the weather and availability of AFF instructors... but there's the basics for you

I hope that helps
