AFF Candidate

Bikerxxuk's picture

I did a tandem at headcorn last year as a bit of a taster with a view to maybe taking up the sport. I enjoyed it so much I have not stopped thinking about it since. Any spare time I get I am looking up skydiving videos, reading through websites etc. Damn, I even dream about it !!

So I have set myself the goal of doing the AFF this year.

I am 40 so will have to sort the doctors form which will not be a problem at all.

I am just over 13 stone and 5 foot 7 tall. Is that within the limits?

Weston seems the easiest DZ to get to for me and you guys on this forum seem quite a cheerful bunch of chappies so I am 100% sure that you will be seeing me very shortly.

Hi Steve,

AFF is a great way to learn to skydive. We can take you through a course whenever you are ready. Your weight is fine so dont worry.

If you forward your address ill stick some stuff in the post to you

Brill! Great to bring a new person into the Weston fold! If you loved the tandem, wait until you try it for real, on your own! It's the biggest buzz you'll ever have. If you are under the impression you think about it a lot now, wait til you start jumping! Hope you're prepared to lose wuffo friends, go broke and spend a lot of time with bruised knees (quicker you learn to stand up on landing, the better!).

Come say hi when you start!

Hi I did a Tandem on the 11th May and really enjoyed it and was interested in doing the AFF course, havent stopped thinking about it, I came last weekend to weston on the green to find some information about it but I just wanted to find out a bit more, I wanted to find out: once I did the 8 level AFF course and the 10 consolidation desents, how much would it cost to jump after once your an intermediate parachutist?. And also on the course how many jumps do you do in total?

Chaz,

Re: AFF Candidate

Hi Chaz,

If you do not repeat any levels then you should only do 18 jumps before getting your A license, 8 for the AFF course and 10 consols. Once you have that the the jumps are £20 + £10 for equipment hire.

Hi I did my AFF level 1 on friday, but was wondering if I could get gloves from somewhere, does the little shop at weston on the green sell them because my hands were freezing after the freefall I struggled with the toggles on the canopy, thats not the reason I nearly landed on the perimeter track though, bit of a scary first jump :S

Re: AFF Candidate

Cold? In this glorious summer weather...haha!

Yes the shop does sell gloves :-)
