Skydive Weston Closed until further notice

To our huge regret and despite protracted and exhaustive negotiations, Skydive Weston is now closed until further notice.

Skydive Weston was a civilian company, operating from an RAF dropzone. We paid the RAF rent for the use of the land and facilities which are owned by the MOD (i.e. paid for by the UK taxpayer).  The RAF have decided not to renew our lease, or let us operate until a new RAF Association can be formed. This was due to happen on 18th June but we are now told "maybe next year".

The RAF will no longer profit from our operation, to the detriment of both the civilian membership, the RAF (which is currently experiencing central government cuts), and other services. Our offer of income generation to support military Adventurous Training here would have saved the MOD over £45000 by the end of this year. Despite the MOD's huge deficit, they have not accepted our offer and although this seems small amount, over the next 5 to 10 years it would have amounted to a considerable sum.

We have spent months attempting to secure a renewal on our lease, but have been frustrated at every turn.  The RAF, it seems, are happy to accept the demise of a successful commercial operation, which has helped charities, universities, individuals and the military personnel achieve some amazing things, and provided profit to all parties.

If you have paid a deposit or in full for your jump with us, please write to us at Skydive Weston, RAF Weston on the Green, Oxfordshire OX25 3TQ, stating your name, address, when you were meant to jump and what is owed. This will be forward appropriately.

We would like to thank everyone who helped to make Skydive Weston the success that it was, and to wish them the best for the future.

Best regards,

Ash and Steve
